Katie’s Testimony
I was born and raised in the state of Washington. I grew up in a pastor’s home with seven other siblings. Both of my parents know the Lord as their Savior and love the Lord. They taught my siblings and I from His Word.
When I was 7-8 years old, God reached into my heart and brought me to Himself for salvation. I was sitting in church during a service when all of a sudden, God opened my ears and heart and the sermon stuck out to me. It was on heaven and hell. For the first time, I realized that I wasn’t going to heaven and that I was going to be separated from God. I didn’t want that. I prayed in my heart and God so wonderfully saved me. When I was 9 years old, I was baptized by immersion in my church.
In 2006, the Lord led me to attend International Baptist College and Seminary in Chandler, Arizona where I took classes on the Bible, Missions, Music, Teaching and Church Education.
During college, on a group hike at the Grand Canyon, a good college friend drowned in the Colorado river. It was through his death, that the Lord drew me closer to Himself and I experienced His love in deeper way than I ever had before.
Several years after college, in 2017, the Lord opened the door to take my first mission trip to the southwest to help veteran missionaries work with Native Americans. Right away, I fell in love with the children and the camp ministry.
The Lord gave me several opportunities to return and in 2023, on one of these mission trips, the Lord showed me that the field was white for harvest but the laborers were few. And those few laborers were within a decade of retiring. That was heavy on my heart. It was during this time that the Lord led me to surrender to Him as a laborer in His harvest field.
After completing the application process with Baptist Mid-Missions and my home church voting to send me as a missionary, I then attended a training seminar in July of 2024 with BMM, during which time I became a missionary appointee with Baptist Mid-Missions to work with Native Americans in the Southwest!
When I move to New Mexico and as the Lord directs, I’ll be serving in the local church, working with the women’s and children’s ministries, helping with the summer camp ministry, sharing the Gospel in the community and discipling believers!
